Peak Proteins Welcomes Thomas Goggins

Peak Proteins welcomes Thomas Goggins as a Laboratory Technician.  Thomas is a graduate chemist who left science for event and retail management before deciding to return to a laboratory environment.

Starting Life as a Chemist:

Thomas graduated from The University of Manchester with a Master’s degree in Chemistry.  He went on to study high performance computing at the University of Edinburgh and decided not to continue in academia so returned to Manchester and took a different direction into event and retail management.

Moving into Retail:

Thomas started work at the Odeon Cinema, Manchester Printworks as an Event Coordinator before joining Costa Coffee as an Assistant Manager at the Printworks.  Thomas then became the Store Manager before moving to the city centre and working as Assistant Manager at Costa Coffee in Oxford Road.

Joining Peak Proteins:

Thomas commented, “After ten years in retail management, and working unsocial hours, I wanted to take the organisation skills I had gained from that sector and return to a science industry.  Building on the knowledge I gained during my degree and retail experiences and then applying that in a scientific operational role particularly appealed to me”.

Joanne Hartley, Operations Manager added, “As Peak Proteins continues to grow rapidly, Thomas will play a vital role in enabling the laboratories run smoothly, ensuring media, reagents, and clean glassware are always available. Thomas will also be assisting in ensuring consumable stocks are maintained at optimal levels, accepting deliveries and despatching proteins to global destinations”.

Life Outside Work

Outside work, Thomas is kept busy with his young daughter and helped with home schooling during the pandemic. Very keen on listening to loud rock bands live, Thomas plays bass guitar for fun in his spare time.
