More about Liam

Liam holds a PhD in Structural and Molecular Biology from the University of Leicester, awarded through the reputable MIBTP programme. His doctoral research focused on uncovering the molecular mechanisms of the Nucleosome Remodelling and Deacetylase (NuRD) complex, an epigenetic HDAC complex critical for regulating gene expression and organism development. Liam has extensive experience in the mechanistic and structural characterisation of macromolecular assemblies, using a multidisciplinary approach that integrates biochemical, biophysical, and cryo-electron microscopy techniques to elucidate the structure and function of the NuRD complex and its interaction with chromatin.

Driven by a passion for protein science and translational research, Liam transitioned to Sygnature Discovery to contribute to impactful drug discovery and development projects.

Beyond the lab, Liam enjoys creating 3D computer illustrations and animations of proteins, transforming the complex biochemical world he studies into visually engaging representations—though he often thinks that they look like jellybeans! In his free time, Liam is passionate about outdoor adventures, rock climbing, reading, and playing the guitar.
