Competition – The 12 Days of Christmas

Enter our Christmas competition and win bars Toblerone!  The answers are all on our website and none are too difficult – well Question 6 might get the brain cells going 😊

Question 1:

OK a cauliflower isn’t the same as a pear but it’s near enough…name the author of the paper sighted in Scott Allen’s case study in which the white vegetable plays a key role?

Question 2:

Can’t believe it was two years ago but these were delivered for Christmas 2019 and opened in January 2020.  They came in a pair and have wings but aren’t turtle doves – name the two insects (Look in Company News 😊)

Question 3:

Who in the team has a farm, keeps sheep but might have a few hens? (Big clue – she’s a mass spectrometry expert 😊)

Question 4:

Who in the team is a cell culture specialist and can sing for her supper? (You’ll find her employee spotlight on the Join Us page 😊)

Question 5:

The gold rings should be diamond ones really – shouldn’t they?  Where is the Diamond much associated with Peak Proteins to be found?

Question 6:

Can you find the uniprot code for lysozyme g, one of the proteins in Goose eggs? For an extra point can you calculate the isoelectric point (pI) of the full-length protein? (Look in Resources – Useful Links 😊)

Question 7:

Which team member swims like a swan and raises lots of money for charity?

Question 8:

Did you know that there was over 3g of protein in 100g of milk?  Of course, you did but can you tell us the December Molecule of the Month on the RCSB PDB – Protein Structure Database? Sadly, no-one will be surprised in the answer. (Look in Resources – Useful Links 😊)

Question 9:

Which team member loves to dance? (Big clue she’s a big part of our big move to Tytherington 😊)

Question 10:

Not strictly leaping but definitely climbing among the rocks during his summer vacation.  Find him among the many lovely Postcards from Summer 2021.

Question 11:

Who entertained us on the bagpipes last Christmas from his conservatory during lockdown?

Question 12:

And last but not least name the band Derek Ogg was in – not sure he that he was the drummer but close enough…
