Dr Mark Abbott Travels to India to Talk About Protein Mass Spectrometry

Dr Mark Abbott, CEO of Peak Proteins, is travelling to India between the 24th and 25th of June to present a talk on “Mass Spectrometry is an Essential Tool to Understand Proteins; How to Make Them and Characterise Their Structures”.

Gurkirat Singh, Marketing Manager of Sciex, India will be Mark’s host for the trip.  Sciex, founded in 1970, provides state-of-the-art instrumentation, workflow solutions and support for mass spectrometry and separations science.

Understanding the quality and quantity of any protein sample is key to obtaining decision making data.  Peak Proteins routinely perform liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LCMS) to fully understand the heterogeneity, molecular weight and any post-translational modifications that may have occurred during protein expression and purification. Peak Proteins uses a Sciex ExionLC coupled to their X500B QTOF mass spectrometer, Sciex OS and BioPharmaView Software.

Peak Proteins provides intact protein molecular weight analysis (LCMS) and peptide mapping and protein identification (LCMSMS) as a standalone, flexible service with quick turnaround times and no detailed contract set-up.

Mark will be presenting in Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana and Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka.  Both cities are the main locations for biologics manufacturing in India.

“I am keen to learn the needs of biologics manufacturers in India and how we might work with them to solve their problems”, commented Mark. “We understand proteins and this understanding is critical to manufacturing.  I’m really looking forward to visiting India and meeting the scientists and discovering more about how they work”.

Mark’s talk will focus on how mass spectrometry enables Peak Proteins to solve real protein related problems and how these challenges have been faced and overcome.
