We are currently looking for a Laboratory Manager to join our rapidly growing team.

Peak Proteins is a vibrant contract research organisation that provides research services to clients globally. These services include the engineering of tailored proteins for a variety of different end-uses such as biochemical screening, biophysics, diagnostics and biologics drug discovery. In addition, we perform protein structure determination by X-ray crystallography and provide a protein mass spectrometry service. Our passion is to provide clients with the protein related tools and information they need to successfully progress their projects.

The role will be wide ranging and involve a number of key activities such as:
• Operational management of a number of laboratories which includes external contracts and suppliers, procurement of laboratory equipment and consumables and dealing with all deliveries.
• Acting as a key point of contact to address needs as they occur for all laboratory staff as well as external visitors.
• Management of key laboratory equipment including service contracts
• Implementation of Safety, Health and Environmental procedures across the business
• Maintenance and development of waste management systems and processes
• Project Management of laboratory moves
• Shipping of samples on dry ice globally
• Ensuring liquid nitrogen and CO2 supplies are always available
• Induction of new starters and students into Laboratory Management processes, systems and equipment
• A key contact for emergency call outs, for example, for freezers

To be successful in this role, you should have the drive to deliver a quality service which supports the laboratory staff and senior management team. You must have strong organisational and problem-solving abilities, be good at communicating with people and enjoy working in a team. To be considered, you should have at least a BSc in a relevant science degree and have experience of working in a bioscience laboratory. Prior experience of project/lab management and SHE would also be desirable.
