Dr Mark Elvin | 50K Marathon Swim

Mark Swims Again!

Dr Mark Elvin swam 50K in November to raise funds for Level Water.

Swimming 92 lengths at Wilmslow Leisure Centre pool every weekday in November, Mark completed the 50K with a final 62 lengths of the swimming pool on the 30th of November.

Mark commented, “It’s been a very busy year with plenty of swimming challenges.  This is the last one for the year.  It’s been great to be able to raise funds for such good causes.  I was particularly pleased to finish 7th overall in this specific marathon swim challenge.  Next year I hope to involve my boys more.  COVID has sadly made that difficult this year”.

This year Mark has raised over £500 from three separate long distance swimming challenges and his latest Just Giving Page can be found by clicking on this link if you would like to donate.

More About Level Water:

At Level Water, we know that swimming is a great sport for children, but it can be ineffective or unsafe for some with disabilities to learn in mainstream groups.

Working in partnership with local leisure providers to offer affordable specialist 1:1 or small group swimming lessons to children with disabilities, Level Water aims to teach children to become independent in the water and help them to join a mainstream class.

Level Water currently support children between 4-11 with a mobility, visual and hearing impairments who cannot swim 10 meters.  Unfortunately, we do not currently work with children who have learning, social or behavioural difficulties.

Lessons are offered at 70 partner pools across England and Wales. Please visit www.levelwater.org for more information.
