More about Heather

Heather graduated with a MChem from Heriot-Watt University. As part of her degree she undertook an Erasmus year at the University of Zaragoza, where she got her first taste of working in a research lab.

After completing an 800 km walk along the Camino de Santiago, and looking for new challenges, Heather moved to Cardiff University to carry out a PhD as part of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Trainin (CDT) in Catalysis. Here, she developed an interest in proteins with her research focussing on protein cyclisation, specifically the cyclisation of a plastic degrading enzyme (IsPETase).

Outside of the lab, Heather can usually be found at the local climbing wall, out for a walk or in the pub. She also enjoys baking and is learning to crochet.
