We are looking for a principal scientist skilled in all aspects of protein X-ray crystallography to join our rapidly growing team.

Peak Proteins is a vibrant contract research organisation (CRO) that is now part of Sygnature Discovery, and provides research services to clients globally. These services include the engineering of tailored proteins for a variety of different end-uses such as biochemical screening, biophysics, diagnostics and biologics drug discovery. In addition, we perform protein structure determination by X-ray crystallography and provide a protein mass spectrometry service. Our passion is to provide clients with the protein related tools and information they need to successfully progress their projects.

As a minimum you will have a PhD in Structure Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics or a related discipline and have at least 6 years postdoctoral experience in protein crystallography. To be considered you must have a proven track record in the determination of X-ray crystal structures from multiple protein classes and be able to demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities and extensive experience in many aspects of protein crystallography including construct design, de-novo phasing and structure refinement. Previous pharmaceutical company or contract research organisation experience is an advantage but is not essential. Importantly however, you should show the enthusiasm and self-motivation required to help drive the business forward and to develop your own scientific and commercial skills. Salary is dependent on the knowledge and experience of the candidate.

We expect the successful candidate to be able to confidently develop and adapt project plans, in consultation with clients, and to manage projects as they progress. Successful project delivery will be achieved through their own experimental work and by working flexibly with team members and researchers in the client organisations; good communication, both written and oral, and team working skills are therefore essential.

Peak Proteins has recently moved to purpose-built laboratories and offices at Tytherington Business Village in Macclesfield; not far from the heart of Manchester and with easy access to the Peak District, Snowdonia and Lake District national parks.

If you are interested please send your CV and a covering letter to jobs@peakproteins.com by 15th July 2022.
