We’re Moving!
We are excited to tell you that Peak Proteins is moving to a new, purpose designed building with new laboratories (and offices) in Tytherington in Macclesfield early next year.
Our new address will be:
Birchwood House
Larkwood Way
Tytherington Business Park
Macclesfield
SK10 2XR
Dr Mark Abbott, Chief Executive Officer, commented, “About this time last year we were celebrating our 6th birthday with 24 members of the team. By January next year we’ll have 30. We are growing rapidly and it’s time to move into to our own place with room to grow further as we continue to expand”.
“We’re not moving too far. Staying in the Northwest was a must. Access to the local Universities has been brilliant for recruitment and everyone in the team is still pretty local to the new premises”.
“The project is well underway, and we have tasked Joanne Hartley, our new Operations Manager to oversee the move and make sure we are all kept on track,” Mark added.
Jo continued, “There is a lot to do of course. The team is working closely together to make sure we don’t miss anything, and we really appreciate the support we’re getting from Orbit Developments, ADT Workplace and Matthews and Goodman. It looks enormous with 8000 sq ft of lab space and 4000 sq ft of office space. We wanted plenty of room to expand and we certainly have that!”.
Dr Hazel Weir, Head of Business Development commented, “The most important task for us all is to make sure there is a total continuation of our services. Our customers, as always, are our top priority. We won’t be moving all at once and we will make sure there is plenty of overlap for moving the different laboratories and services from the old to the new site”.
Mark remarked, “We’re keeping a presence on the site at Alderley Park. It’s been an eventful journey from the birth of the company to now. We are very grateful to many people at Alderley Park who have helped to get us off the ground and then starting to grow as a business. In particular Ned Wakeman and his team at the BioHub [the original Incubation Service at Alderley Park] were key to help us turn our enthusiasm in, and experience, of proteins into a business. We know we wouldn’t be here without them”.
“Many of our team members have spent a large chunk of their careers at Alderley Park and of course there is a tinge of sadness that we are leaving. However we are looking forward to an exciting new chapter,” Mark added.
We thought we’d kept you up-to-date with photos of the transformation over the next few months from bare walls and a shell of a building to Peak Proteins new home….
